The goal of the Second Amendment Foundation Training Division's “Defensive Handgun 1” course is to provide the student with a solid foundation in basic knowledge of handgun safety, various types of handguns, an understanding of ammunition and how it functions, shooting fundamentals and an introduction to defensive shooting skills.

Instructor Candidates must have an active First Aid, CPR/AED Certification and be able to pass the FBI Shooting Qualification with a score of 90% or better
Upon completion of this class you will be able to teach Defensive Handgun 1, F.A.S.T. Handgun, Range Officer, and Skill Builder 1.

The SAFTD Master Instructor Development Conference is a four day workshop for Those candidates who have met the criteria, and have been invited by a State MI, Regional MI, or National MI.
During this Course the Candidates will prove their understanding of the following:
This will be 4 long days of training. Attendance does not guarantee you will leave as an SAFTD MI. You will be required to show a solid understanding of the topics mentioned above. You will be required to pass written tests, as well as 4 separate range qualifications. You will be required to lecture in the classroom as well as teach multiple disciplines at the range.
